G.Fast Cabinets - Not on Mapping Tool

[link to this post]

I have noticed many G.Fast cabinets whilst driving through Mexborough (Exchange SLMEX), however on the Availability Checker there is no mention of any G.fast services. These cabinets have been installed at least 6 months so thought it would be worth pointing out as not sure if this effects the numbers being quoted on the articles on the main TB page?

As an example Doncaster Road (S64 0HL) almost all the residential properties have G.Fast showing as available/amber on the DSL checker.

Physical presence of the pods does not always equal being able to order, so it is often months ahead of time that people tell us pods have appeared before we finally spot them are actually live.

Often the trigger is someone running a speed test

Most work on spotting new stuff is on the FTTP roll-outs these days.

Ah, I didn't realise the tool was based on speed tests, just assumed it was based on pods being live.

The address listed shows as available on BT DSL and BT's own website. Random address put in gives:

ULTRAFAST FIBRE PLUS

Your download speed range
137Mb - 138Mb

Your minimum download speed 100Mb
Upload speed range 25Mb - 26Mb

BT DSL Checker shows:

G.fast Range A (Clean) 330 330 50 38.9 325 Amber Amber
G.fast Range B (Impacted) 308.5 241.4 45.7 24.4 225.9 Amber Amber

The only reason I mention this , is Mexborough is littered with G.Fast pods.

Not based on speed tests, but seeing a speed test can be the trigger to tell me to look at an area. Hope that makes sense.

i.e. 1 speed test on one cabinet may lead to me checking the 100 other cabinets on that exchange
