So I noticed a G.Fast pod attached to my local FTTC cabinet a while back (1yr+) now. After checking Openreach's ADSL Checker, it (after a few months) mentioned G.Fast but with no speed data. So I just assumed that they hadn't activated it yet, but after looking at: https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/broadband-map#...
There is literally a green spot ontop of my house and it's not one of the weak ones either. So what the hell is going on?! I can't order G.Fast from seemingly anywhere. And to make matters worse, the mention of G.Fast has been removed from the ADSL Checker's results now.
It's so frustrating, knowing that down the road they have Virgin Media, and a little further down they have FTTP. Working from home, I'd pay practically anything to get a fibre connection, but it seems to be getting less and less likely, rather than more!
Can any ThinkBroadband staff member help explain why I'd see the G.Fast dot on my house, yet it not be available?

check next door address on dsl checker to see if they have g.fast on it. I can get g.fast at my property but was low at 114/9 but two next doors of mine get 330/50 and a further down the house got no g.fast. All in same lay out same cabinet.

Funny thing is that I even tried the availability checker without specifying an address and just asked them to use the postcode (thinking that might do it?) but still no. I'll try a few doors down now.

If you can email me [email protected] then I can look
It may be your postcode is split across two cabinets and one has a g.fast pod and one does not. Or I might just have got it wrong or as has happened in the past the centre of a postcode is not where people think it is.

Dammit, you're right.. I tried no.1 on the street and they are allowed to order. 150MBps :/
Well that sucks. So now it's a few doors down G.Fast, next street Virgin Media and a few streets over FTTP. Grrr. BT's FTTP rollout can't come soon enough.

yeah some houses are hit and a miss of g.fast. This is why g.fast are very poor indeed and shouldn't have rolled out at all. G.fast are ok for some lucky and some are unlucky unable to get it at all. I can't bother to order G.fast because my estimated speed are very poor with low 114/9 but my fttc stay at max 80/20 so I staying with fttc until full fibre come along one day.

I'll try a few doors down now. The pure postcode checker no longer shows such data, but using the address option and entering just the postcode gives you a drop-down list of all addresses on it, and you can then check any address you like easily.
My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

Well I guess I'm just going to have to put a pin in it for now... Though what makes the whole thing more frustrating is that by now living in an area surrounded by FTTP/Virgin/G.Fast I imagine that'll push us all the way to the back of the line for any future FTTP rollouts! Ah well.

Check a number of addresses in your street.
If addresses on either side of you (connected to the same cabinet) show G.Fast estimates then it might be that your address is missing by mistake.
There are many database errors with G.Fast.
If that's the case then email MrSaffron the details and he can try get it corrected.
It could just be that you're beyond reach of G.Fast though.
What's the FTTC estimates?

Indeed, for some reason, my road shows as having G Fast available on that link
https://labs.thinkbroadband.com/local/g-fast-map-model and yet it isn't, is around 5-600 meters from the cab, and no pod installed.

This map is speculative and is not based on any plans by Openreach and was produced to get a rough idea of the number of cabinets would see G.fast pods attached in delivering the 10 million target.
Perhaps that's why
