G.Fast or VDSL extension pod?

[link to this post]

Typical case of had a pod appear on the side of the PCP about 11 months ago, but not clear as to what it's for. The pods have since appeared on another 2-3 cabinets in the town. They look like your standard G.Fast pod, but no 'fin' on the bottom.

Reason for asking is that I could do with another VDSL line, but cabinet currently appears to be full and has been for c.3 months ago. This suggests if it is an extension pod, it's still not been activated. There's no sign of G.Fast in the local area beyond the pods - the exchange isn't on any lists and it isn't active on any properties close to the cab.

It's Bromyard (Herefordshire), Cabinet 1, if anyone has any knowledge to help please?

My money is on this being a gfast pod rather than a VDSL sided

In my area there have been quite a few PCP's in the past 18 months that have had what look like G.Fast pods fitted, they have vents on the door at the top and bottom, but are only extension pods.

Fingers crossed, would be good to get G.Fast eventually. Aware they did some spine fibre cabling works from Hereford last summer so guess it'll get commissioned eventually...

Don't know how close you are to your cab but you may want to regular check (via the DSL Checker) a few properties right next to the cab/pod just in case it goes live but your property is out of reach.

Edit: Sorry just read your first post and looks like you are already doing this smile

G.fast pods generally use a spare fibre from the existing VDSL2 cabinet rather than need new spine fibre running
