Pair divert

Happy new year (decade!) to you all!

What brings me back after a ten year hiatus? Well... I am wondering if any of you knowledgeable lot would be able to shine any light on the Openreach procedure for a pair divert to a new cabinet!

The short story is that the cabinet we are connected to is not FTTC enabled (and absolutely no plans to do so, AFAIK) - this cabinet serves at least four properties (all adjacent to each other). However, four other adjacent properties are connected to a different cabinet which is FFTC enabled, and the properties acheive very good speeds.

I've come across a process called a "pair divert" - has anyone here had any experience in getting this done? I'm try to get a feel for the procedure/timescale/costs (FWIW, it's a non-residential connection)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is strictly non standard request and not something that Openreach actively encourage unless it's part of larger network rearrangement. It may simply be these premises have been missed out from a previous rearrangement.
I suggest you try contacting the CEO and ask for someone to look into your request.

A pair divert, is to route an additional pair to a specified DP, where, for whatever reason, there are not enough pre connected spares to provide service.

It isn�t to divert a pair from a DP to a different PCP as you are hoping.

As Witchunt suggests, an email to the CEO�s office might be your best bet ...

who knows, it might be that FTTP is a cheaper solution for you and your neighbours.

Is this an email to the CEO of Openreach or TalkTalk (ie the current provider)

If it's not possible to reroute to the enabled cabinet, would I be asking to enable the existing cabinet?

What speeds is ADSL giving you at present ? There are Universal Service Obligations on their way, which *may* add grist to your mill.

What speeds can you get on 4g ? If good, you could ditch the landline and go 100% mobile ?

Currently getting 11/1mb ish - d/l is absolutely fine, but the u/l is the issue. AFAIK 4G wouldn't be suitable due to CGNAT

A 9/9mb leased line was coming in at £150/month on a 3 year term, what's the starting point for FFTP?

The other properties will be on a different DP. Planning rules prevent some pairs on a DP being FTTC connected and others not.

I know of a house that has two lines and they go to different cabinets.
One line can get FTTC and the other cannot.
