Hi all,
I have a weird issue with my VDSL connection that happens quite sporadically but I cannot figure out why. To explain...
I have a long line and usually my connection is pretty stable generally connecting at around 25Mpbs (or more if lucky!) with my noise margin stable at around 3-6db depending on the speed I'm connected at (this may fluctuate by around 1-2db during the day which is normal).
However, every once in a while, I drop my connection and it will struggle to reconnect at anything more than 17-20Mpbs - This is because the noise margin is fluctuating wildly every 5-10 secs between approx 3db and 14db. Eventually after half a day or so the noise margin stabilizes at around the higher db reading - if I do another reboot of the router it will reconnect at the lower speed again with the fluctuating noise margin!
If I reboot after a week or so or just leave it be until it resyncs, I regain the higher speeds and stable noise margin.
Does any one have any thoughts as it baffles me?!
Notes
- Approx 1.5km line length from cabinet.
- Netgear D6400 router, firmware up to date.
- Internal wiring is good, connected to master socket, no extensions.
- No changes in the household that may cause this issue from what I can see.
- Openreach have replaced my line to the DP and another span of cable close by over the past 2 years due to some issues. This if anything has improved my connection speeds slightly.
