FTTP Rollout in Stansted

[link to this post]

Hey, have seen BT (or their sub contractors), pulling fibre optics through the ground ducts and then splicing the fibre at various junction points, any idea to figure out when this may be available to order, or what speeds will be available ?

If they're installing a leased line - then you won't be able to order anything, sorry frown

If they're installing FTTP - then it could be available from a few months to never (sometimes FTTP is partially installed and never completed)

Speeds available on FTTP today are 40/10, 80/20, 160/30, 200/20, and 330/50 (*), but from end of next month new 500/75 and 1000/110 products are being released.

(*) there are also very expensive business services at 500/165 and 1000/220, with large up-front install fee.

What you first need to know is ‘what kind of fibre products are they working on ?’

There is a fair chance that what you saw has nothing to do with providing FTTP you might order a service from.

Whereabouts in Stansted? Are you sure it's Openreach? Gigaclear are currently installing fibre in Quendon but the work is contracted out, can't remember who they used here in Braintree.

It's definitely fttp open reach checker says 1gbit service coming soon.

And the techs have been splicing some 30+ fibre tails at a time, with a big circular disk, also it's a purely residential development so possible but unlikely to be a leased line
