FTTP but no FTTC on Openreach availability checker

[link to this post]

Nosing around the new OR checker I see an address which has FTTP available but no FTTC. Other addresses (nearby, not the same street) show FTTP and FTTC as available.

The address with FTTP only is newly connected. Did they never have a FTTC option in the past?

Fibre only addresses are normal for new build premises.

With the roll-out of FTTP it seems like properties that have not had an active Openreach line are showing up as FTTP as the only option, i.e. they won't install a copper line for final bit into the property, only FTTP.

No, these re quite old, 1970s at a guess. I'd be surprised if they never had a phone line from the Post Office, British Telecom or Openreach in the past.

There was work to a chamber in the street a couple of months back and its just one street. Perhaps they never had FTTC and the ADSL speed at 2.5Mb too slow for the universal guarantee so went straight to FTTP. It is on a Fibre First exchange currently being built out.

On some Fibre first exchanges when a customer moves Voice and BB to FTTP they are removing the ability to order copper based services ready to prepare for the copper change out. Which exchange were you looking at.

Halfway (WSHAL)

Its just two post codes which have recently turned up on the TB map as having FTTP available. Almost at the exchange boundary and a fair way away from Cabinet 20.

My cabinet P65 Priory doesn’t have FTTC, but FTTP is available.

Ironically I used to be on P18 but got the ADSL copper line moved to p65 during troubleshooting. P18 now has FTTC!! 😅

Interestingly I can’t find my details on the BT checker via phone number or address. Wondering if it’s because I’m on digital voice. (Edit, found it now, via postcode only and then selected the house from a drop down)

BT FTTP - Halo 1 Fibre 250.

New build estate that wasnt given anything Id call broadband. First four years 1.6 Mbps ADSL. Following two years, and after many openreach visits, 4.3 Mbps!

Same with my road, lower half can only get FTTC (even though they have the external FTTP hardware in place) , one phone pole in the middle (which my line is on) can get FTTC and FTTP and the top half can only get FTTP.

Down our road FTTP was installed first back in 2011 / 2012, but only upper half went live, myself located half way down our road kept on at BT until they activated the FTTP Hardware at our phone pole, then a little while later BT decided on installing FTTC for the lower half.

Digital voice numbers will not show on the wholesale checker as they are no longer WLR numbers
