FTTP flat pre installation

[link to this post]

As always, a tricky subject. The management company have no idea about the services within the building so I get pushed onto a faceless free hold company which want £250 just to ask a question of enquiring about FTTP.

I tried having FTTP installed over a year ago, the flat above had already had their's installed 'illegally', by running the cable up the stairs. The engineer wasn't up for the same and the building had not been prepared so the installation failed.

Few months later I new (i think) BT box appeared in the communal area with some wires heading off up a conduit, along with plenty of BT Infinity adverts through the door.

So basically how can I tell if my building has been pre installed? Trying to enquire up through management is a dead end, and I don't want to waste BT time with another failed install.

I've added a link to a photo, if anyone can shed any light on this smile

Please search for your exact address on BT Wholesale checker.

If it says WBC FTTP on the left, then you're good to go.

What makes you say no.4 has FTTP installed illegally? Maybe its a leased line?

I don’t believe the ‘new box’ in the linked photo is new, that looks like a standard 20 pair copper DP.

The fibre DP to the right of it looks more promising, but as is often the way when retro fitting flats, it is getting the fibre into the individual flats that is tricky.

The image looks very much like the latter in that it looks like what they would be spliced in to before coming in to the property. Yet to see one in an internal FTTP build but certainly anything is possible if there is enough space in there.

From the label, there isn't the usual reference that you'd see with a leased line/EAD circuit though....

The above post has been made by an ISP REPRESENTATIVE (although not necessarily the ISP being discussed in the post).

When I tried to have it installed previously, the management company was aware of it and said it was done without the freeholder permission, and did not comply with the latest building safety standards and that they were considering enforcing it to be removed.

The 'correct' method of install is on this pdf

It looks like a common sliced fibre DP node to me.

its the KCI 2 assure that could be the issue here (on the broadband checker) as it indicates its possible but there might be issued (so not guaranteed - would need a survey proably)
