FTTP rollout Tidworth

Hi All,

First time poster here. I currently live in Tidworth, Wiltshire and have noticed a massive increase in the number of BT Openreach vans in and around the local area over the last few weeks. Weirdly they all seem to be brand new, 5 tonne Iveco vans, not the usual type that home engineers turn up in. On checking the Openreach site it states FTTP is “coming soon”, another address about 5 miles away says there is “no current plans”. There has been no announcement regarding FTTP, I was just wondering what the Openreach site means when it says coming soon, and in peoples experiences does lots of vans for a fairly protracted period mean enabling work is underway?

Without knowing what they are doing it could be coincidence or just work to add capacity for a new cluster of homes in area.

The FTTP coming soon means usually within the next year or two, i.e. even once first bits start to appear it can be a year or more before they finish in an area.

We have lots of BT road works

I thought I would email Openreach, they have replied confirming that they are currently installing the fibre spine into the town. It appears they are on track to finish within the next 12 months. No idea why the build isn’t being publicised, but clearly there are bits going on.

Are you in a relatively new street? If so you may be one of the lucky ones.

Plenty of work going on but Openreach doesn't get a mention.

You could be one of the lucky ones then picked up by Openreach revisiting old new sites.

Says to widen the a338 ?

Roll the timescales out to 3 months.

Stuff is happening evidently - the Openreach attention could've been due to their being plant nearby while they widen the road and the need to supervise it being moved / buried more deeply / whatever.
