1 Cabinet 2 Different Results

[link to this post]

Recently I have been moved to a new cabinet, previously on Southrepps exchange cabinet 2 but now on cabinet 6 which is a lot closer.
Took out fibre package after checking on the BTW site which gave estimates between 68-80 mbps
My inlaws who live with us have a separate line, (splits on the property) they are out of contract so checked what they could get. All checks made for their number only give between 2-6 mbps.
I have checked with a couple of neighbours, one gets the high estimate, one gets the low. All are on the same cabinet.
My in laws want better broadband, but are unsure about changing with this issue presenting.
Can anyone explain why this would be?
I tried getting the stats off BTW site but cannot copy like the old one.

Could be a database error, are your inlaws currently on adsl or vdsl ?

According to https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm?xid=1...

Cabinet P6 FTTC being Activated, live due by July 2020

So it maybe that some have not been moved over or haven't so others will show different results

The adsl might be the answer they are and so is the neighbour who also reported the low results.
I was previously on Fttc as was the other person who had the higher results.
Can I assume then that if they went ahead with a Fttc connection, they would get similar speeds to me regardless of the posted numbers?

That sounds about right.

Where the ADSL signal comes from for them has got no closer .... whereas where your FTTC signal comes from has.

the issue is something called live to live -- those poor FTTC speeds on Cab A have to be move to Cabinet B first beofre anything else can be done - if someone ordered an servcie from a premises which only had ADSL before that process finished that will be a mess
