FTTP is it possible that..................................

I was led to believe if you had FTTP there was no restrictions on what package / speed you could order.

Just been reading on the BT forum that one customer has just had FTTP installed yet they have told him the highest speed he can have is the 300 / 50 package.

Would that be line length (which I didn't think mattered) or another reason "Light loss" etc.

Not light loss
Not Distance

But the active kit at the head end exchange cannot support the 10 Gbps links to the wholesalers, so they limit product speed sold to 300 Mbps, so that a single Gigabit customer cannot use all the bandwidth.

Basically old ECI hardware that is not used anymore.

hi andrew re the old eci kit in exchanges. i think my exchange (eawct) has eci kit as i cant order anything faster than 330. do you know if or will upgrade the old kit or just replace it if/when it fails?
