G.fast migration

[link to this post]

I'm connected to a cabinet that has a G.fast pod on the side of it, however, my property is not one of the ones connected up to it.

Is it feasible to get it connected? Is there someone I can speak to at Openreach about it?

If G.fast is showing for other properties nearer to the cabinet and your property is not then it likely due to distance sadly.

There are loads of streets further away than mine that show as having G.fast available. Mine is one of only four streets not to be connected, it seems.

What are you current sync speeds on VDSL/FTTC and if your modem/router reports this, what are the figures for max attainable? Unless your current sync speed is at least 75Mbps you would gain nothing by connecting to G-Fast.

Are the streets further away connected to the same cabinet as you?

Can you post screenshots of the result of checking your address at https://broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com , and the same check on one of your neighbours who can get G.fast? Crop out the addresses when you post them.

Not great to be honest.

Max: Upstream rate = 9581 Kbps, Downstream rate = 42647 Kbps

But I'm pretty sure I've been living with a line fault for ages. OR engineer is due out on Tuesday.

Your VDSL2 speeds (if that checker is accurate) indicate that the distance to the cabinet is too far for G.fast. You may well be physically closer to the cabinet but the cable routing doesn't always take the logical route.

With figures like that you would gain nothing and most likely lose by having a G-Fast connection.
Edit spelling.
