Fibre on Demand - new pricing

Does any body know when or if at all, any of the fibre on demand isp's will be offering a reduced price service to the end user based upon the announcement below?

I appreciate the build costs won't change however if you could avoid the high monthly costs it makes it more attractive.

That's only OpenReach's pricing that's changing.

If you buy from Cerberus for example they don't pay OpenReach but rather BT Wholesale.
BT Wholesale might not even drop their prices in line with OpenReach.
If they do it doesn't mean an ISP will pass it on.

You might not see a difference at all.

Also, BT Wholesale (now called BT Enterprise I believe) don't necessarily resell all the FTTPoD tiers that Openreach offer.

Even before this announcement, Openreach provided FTTPoD 330/50, 330/30 and 160/30. But BTE only sold the 330/30 tier - even though 330/50 was the same price from Openreach.

It would be nice to have the higher speeds available from day one - if you're going to spend all that money, might as well enjoy the first year.

So the only significant change is that you can now order faster speeds than 330/30 on FoD. The 330/30 tier is still roughly the same as the old price. Though I'm a bit surprised why they're still selling 330/30 instead of 330/50 considering both are the same price at wholesale level.

True but most people spending £1000s on FoD would want significantly faster speeds than 115 Mbps. I imagine for most people the one off build costs are far more important than the monthly rental costs, the latter over 12 months are tiny in comparison to the up front costs.

I can understand Openreach don't want the hassle of dealing with end-customers, but FoD would suit me a lot more if I could contract directly with Openreach to get an FTTP build and then it just showed up as native on all the checkers, and the ISP choice was up to me.

FYI, those are inc-VAT prices. The ex-VAT prices are: £75, £90, £115, £145 respectively. This means that there's been a small price drop on 300/30, from £100 to £90.

It looks like it's now a flat £35/month premium over the corresponding native FTTP services (except native 115/20 is not currently offered).
