What is this box?

[link to this post]

I am trying to identify this box - and also whose responsibility it is.
Cable on left comes into the house through the outside wall, cable on right eventually gets to the master socket.
Strange box 1
Strange box 2

It's a Protector Box No1.

houses fuses to protect against lightning.

A Protector Box No1, either with or without fuses.
It's basically a (very) old equivalent of a BT80, allowing for the transition between external and internal cables and will be the responsibility of Openreach.

Are Openreach responsible for the cable from there to the master socket in another room?
