FTTP BT 900

[link to this post]

I never ever thought I would be sitting here writing I now have a BT 900 service but I do!
A bit thanks to whoever pushed this through. I especially appreciative the changes in BT, vastly different business model now, literally night & day.

I remember getting a FTTPoD quote 2 1/2 years ago for £15,400.00 ex VAT {ouch} hence the reason I would never dream of getting FTTP.

I know certain people from BT or Open Reach will see this & again thank you so much.

Now how do I get the BQM to work on a smart hub?

*edit*Just ran a speed test on this simply amazing

Congrats on a lovely testing fibre connection.

I’m not sure BQM runs through a BT Smart Hub

Not entirely sure why you would need it too, an FTTP connection doesn’t have ‘stats’ as such.

The BQM is actually still very useful on FTTP, and can be used to diagnose or at least point to issues. My BQM came in handy early on in my FTTP connection's service - it was showing 50% packet loss, which turned out to be a faulty fibre line card in CityFibre's network.

So how much has it actually cost you?

Pretty very poor upload from BT. Should be both download and upload same speed. It's 21st century not 19th century!

It's simply a commercial, marketing decision. It forces people who want a higher upload speed to take a more expensive product (like a leased line). It's hard enough already to make a business case for rolling out FTTP, without having a product that cuts into your other revenues.

These are unregulated products - except certain FTTP tiers where copper is not available - and mostly paid for out of commercial investment.

Thanks Zarjaz. I just want to see how the BQM works on my new line compared to FTTC. Just nosy 🧐

Open Reach have just installed native FTTP. £59.99 a month rolling + £9.99 set-up fee for the 910/110.
Unbelievable different.

That's because my area isn't FTTP yet. Never will.
