I have placed an order for brand new line with G.fast 160/30 with my new ISP. Engineer is booked in. Will start off 160/30 to see how it goes. Installation date: 30th October. Openreach will bring G.fast socket with Openreach G.fast modem
Will post back soon with new TBB BQM, TBB Speedtest, G.fast stats etc.
My daughter can have her own FTTC with PN now. She will pay the bill.

MrSaffron, when the engineer come to install new line for G.fast as I know two next doors of mine get Range A&B 330/50 can I ask openreach engineer to get the line from there to my house so I can get G.fast 330/50 possible? If not, then stick with 160/30 then. Thank you.

A "new" line will probably use a spare pair in your existing cable which will go back to the same cab as your current connection is on. Only if there are no spare pairs will they run a new line. Do you have reason to believe your physical wire runs a different route than your two neighbours?
|
|
I don't think my master socket haven't got any spare cable left?
Last time engineer only put two wiring on my master socket incoming from exchange is blue and orange. Nothing else. https://ibb.co/Wp78kbL & https://ibb.co/fHBHZbv
Is that brown and green use for 2nd new line?

Is that mean Brown and Green are unused pair (for 2nd new line)?

Yes, that is a spare pair that the engineer would most likely use for a "new" line.

Ok so the estimate for G.fast will be much the same then? But more likely FTTC line might reduced VDSL sync rate?

My isp told me for my line G.fast could be range from 112 to 224 but it can't known until it active on the day of installation but told me if it fail below 112 then the engineer might likely to rejected G.fast to go live and cancel it. Next door got G.fast getting 215 down and 37 up so more likely I can get full 160/30 with no issues.

I would suggest waiting until the line gets installed and if the speed falls below the advertised speed, cancel the line. G.fast uses different spectrum so you shouldn't have issues on the VDSL service.
ISP: BT - FTTP 930Mb/110Mb
ISP: PlusNet - FTTC - 80Mb/20Mb
Birmingham Fibre First Program: FTTP - BT Full fibre 900 Halo 1 package - 930Mb down 110Mb up.
Stechford (CMSTE) Cab 24 - Funded Privately (Community Partnership).

Is that below Downstream handback threshold only?

Can you even unlock the Huawei G.fast modems to get the stats?
Edit: Ah it's a BT Hub, so the (limited) stats are built into the router.

I think so, BT Hub or openreach modem as BT ISP told me engineer will come to change master socket to G.fast socket and bring his openreach modem with him.

Whatever it says in the contract you signed.
If the contract guarantees 100M downstream and makes no claim on upstream, then you will be able to cancel it only if you get less than 100M downstream.

You have nothing to lose only something to gain by ordering G.fast, you've lived without G.fast until now so try not to worry as you don't want to make yourself ill and be in hospital when they come to install it.
You've posted about G.fast for so long now so be excited, I would

G.fast order has now been cancelled because I don't want rip off charged by BT.com for new line installation of £140 charged! No way I ain't paying that much.
So, G.fast is called off for now.

But you would have known the charge when you placed the order so why did you go ahead with the order in the first place? You could just upgrade your existing line that you share with your daughter to double the speed.

I don't care whatever u say. I am happy to stayed with FTTC 80/20. UHD 4K are more than enough for two peoples in the household. I rather stick to FTTC 93p a month rather than wasted £40 a month.

I'm confused and admittedly somewhat new to this 'saga' as others have called it but...why did you place the order then get the hump about the £140?

There is an old morality tale about the boy who cried wolf. I strongly urge you to take heed of the tale and stop trolling people.
There will come the day when you seek genuine help from people but your current and past behaviour means people will ignore you.
