FTTP Rollout on my Estate

[link to this post]

Hi All

My estate is a new build well 2016/17and there's been a lot of Openreach activity on it the last month. I have spoken to one of the engineers who confirmed its a FTTP rollout

I have managed to get a picture or two while out on my daily lockdown walks

Rats Nest : https://imgur.com/xwTiFOu
Cable reel : https://imgur.com/gbqCx1Z
Organising the rats nest: https://imgur.com/QCpBrOc
All Pretty : https://imgur.com/yPe6QSJ

Im wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the stages of the rollout. There has been no activity in running rope down the ducts to the houses yet that i can see. Do they do this as part of the rollout in prep for orders or do they wait for orders ?

I am also super nosey and curious, So i was wondering what the green cable is, is this just proviging the connections points for the eventual house hookups or is this the cable that get fed through to the CSP

Whose roll-out is it?

Recognise the manhole and copper closures as openreach, but the green tubing is more like city fibre or virgin media, also the splice tray and enclosure is a different shape to the various Openreach ones.

The green is tubing, through which the fibre(s) can be blown.

Its all Openreach vans but in the Bolton evening newspaper there was an article back in March that said that FibreNation were rolling out FTTP in Bolton.

There is virgin on the first half of the estate that was built in 2010 but this second half where all the work is being done didn't get virgin (The Developer would not contribute to the costs when I enquired with Virgin as to why) and the pavements only have BT manholes the CTV manhole stop before you get to this half of the estate which has over 150 houses

Does this affect who I could eventually order from, does it still show up on the broadband checker on btwholesale .com? FibreNations website is very sparse when it comes to details.....

There is a process with acronym PIA that lets other Operators use Openreach duct and chambers. There will have been some Openreach vans present likely (1 person per van so will look like lots) to supervise or help with duct clearing.

FibreNation is TalkTalk and appears on https://www.talktalk.co.uk/ufo (Though actually owned by CityFibre but retailed by TalkTalk)
It might still be Virgin as they are expanding.

Only Openreach appears on BTwholesale come since the others are not with them.

It might be Openreach but never seen that style of FTTP kit - but they may have a new set of supplies, but not confident it is them.

suggest you put your address in the openreach checker and it will advise if openreach is doing something on behalf of openreach (ie an openreach plan) https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband
