FTTP replace GFast?

[link to this post]

The rollout of FTTP has been happening near me but seems to have stopped a couple of roads away, but one of the engineers told a neighbour they won't be rolling out everywhere, especially if GFast is already available. Random postcode checks on the estate show at least 1/2 has it now but would there be any truth to the rumour of them not bothering with areas already getting good GFast speeds though?

plusnet 4/11/2003 -> 4/3/2009 512Kb-2Mb
O2 Standard LLU 4/3/2009 -> 23/6/2009 ~3Mb O2 Access 13/7/2009 -> 22/6/2010 ~8Mb
plusnet 22/6/2010 -> 04/04/2014 ~8MB
plusnet 04/04/2014 -> ?? ~76Mb FTTC
BT Jan 2019 -> ?? ~330Mb FTTC

Plenty of g.fast areas have seen FTTP appears, so its a maybe, maybe not situation.

I'll sit and hope that the duct blockages they are clearing this week around the other side of the estate will feed through to me smile

When you check the DSL checker for those near you that now have fttp do any of them show they also have g.fast? what sort of speed does the DSL checker indicate they were getting before fttp was added? have you checked if this is a commercial rollout or a BDUK funded rollout as that may indicate how wide spread it may be?

Some do, some don't....

I've just found one about 300m from my house, some figures from the checker:
VDSL 80/20
G.Fast 312.8/226.5
FTTP Up to 1000/220

Others however just show the VDSL & FTTP rates.

FTTC was all done under BDUK, not sure if the FTTP piece is being done that way though.

With those pre-fttp speeds its less likely it would be BDUK so I think the chances of your property also getting fttp is a lot higher. Lets hope you do smile

Just to check, that's WBC FTTP, not FTTP On Demand?

You have no idea on that. You are allowed your opinion but you cannot make a categorical they will not get FTTP statement.
