If FTTP is available, there should be a CBT (connectorised block terminal) at the top of the pole serving him. All the ports should be lit, so if there is an unused port he can order... once the database is sorted out.

Each house needs a separate connection to the CBT. Beyond the CBT, up to 32 premises are served by a single fibre via a passive optical splitter.

Sorry, I don't really understand how this works in a rural situation. This is a hamlet of about 12 houses spread over 400m, there are more poles than houses, and I doubt if any pole feeds more than one house. So does each house need a separate CBT if it need to be on the pole that feeds the house?

Is there are reference to how all this works? I have looked without sucess.

Ah. I'm rural myself, but my neighbours and I do all connect to the same pole.

I believe the fibre can be run up to 350m from the CBT, perhaps using existing intervening poles. But if so that does complicate the question of knowing whether the CBT is intended for you. (Until the database is updated.)

One of the forum experts can doubtless give you a definitive answer.

Locate the UPRN for the property on https://www.findmyaddress.co.uk/search, and use this when talking with Openreach. It's a unique number and removes a lot of error.

I think there is an extraneous comma breaking the link (maybe because the link was typed in rather than using the Link button).

Hopefully https://www.findmyaddress.co.uk/search will work.

PROVIDED that checker itself is correct.

My Scottish place has an address: XXXXX Street East and in the village there is also XXXXX Street West - two distinct locations. But that checker gives them both as XXXXX Street, even though there are specific signs with East and West on the individual streets

The fibre can dog leg if distance is reasonable i.e. CBT does not have to be on the final pole. If memory is working ahead of morning coffee, 150m is what most installers carry but the longer run is possible if they know to bring it from stores.

the messed up addressing is most likely the reason for the issue. Email me on [email protected] on Monday morning and will raise with Openreach, need the actual address and reminder of issue i.e. mismatched addresses and CBT does appear to be present.

One thought might be that the pole is marked as dangerous, so cannot climb but that is solvable with a cherry picker.
