fttp available but not

[link to this post]

Hi all,

I wanted to post here as slightly confused by what I see in my local exchange versus what I see actually installed. So BT have installed fttp to lots of houses connected to this exchange and I can see the kit on the telegraph poles outside my house and all in the local area. The local exchange however says it's not available and it's not available for my house though it is for others in the area. I can appreciate a gradule roll out but also trying to understand why the local exchange is saying it's not available period when I know it is. Denston for example a 5 minute walk away has houses connected and it's on the same exchange as my property.

Any thoughts and comments appreciated!

Thanks

SamKnows is quite out of date these days - however, that isn't really relevant in this case.
FTTP doesn't come from your local exchange, it comes from a much larger exchange which may be miles away. Your exchange will never be FTTP enabled, and is likely to go away at some point in the future.
So the FTTP roll out doesn't happen on a strict exchange area basis, and many factors affect when or if a particular property is included in the FTTP build.
Check https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/ultrafast-... to see whether your property is likley to get FTTP soon.

Thanks for this, I didn't know that.

Interestingly fibre is available to some of my neighbours on my road (same postcode) but not to my house yet. Also it says on the bt website we don't have any plans to upgrade your area to full fibre. So there is a lot of conflicting information versus what is actually available and what I can see out my own window!

I'm lucky I guess that I get 25-30mb... and not under 10mb.

depends what you can seen out of your window is that a splitter, a node a joint or a Connectorised block terminal take the example of a motorway it has junctions, service areas station ,junctions to other motorways , junction to A road but it it doesnt have the right sort of Junction close to you it actuallly no use to you
