WBC FTTP available to surrounding houses, stuck on FTTP_OD

Hello,

Between BT Checker and Openreach's website there are many houses (including my adjacent neighbours no more than 10m away) who have FTTP 1000mbps available and can see Full Fibre available from BT. Some houses like mine are limited to ~80mbps with FTTP On Demand (330mbps).

The Openreach website says there are no current plans for our area which is baffling considering they've apparently already done straight past our house. Some other nearby houses are stuck with FTTP OD too but I can't see any reason, we're on the same cabinet. We even had someone a year ago come find where the cable to our house enters and tie a rope around it for future ease.

Does anyone know why the pattern would be seemingly so sporadic and if it means I'm just missed forever unless I pay for On Demand?

PS: Would On Demand require paying to the cabinet 1km away or just to extend from say the neighbours or some nearby "node" of sorts?

How are you and your neighbours currently connected, underground or overhead? If overhead are you connected to the same pole as your neighbours that can get FTTP?
FTTP on demand would require connecting you to a node that may or may not be near be near the cabinet.

At least the cable to our house comes out the ground next to our front door and there are zero overhead cables in the area.

It's got a 1km drive from the main road before any houses and all ~100 houses are served by the same cabinet. It seems really hit and miss who has FTTP.

Our village went live for FTTP in January, been helping some people with the same problem including the local pub. I think it's a 'Data Base' problem as all the FTTP connections (CBT's) are in are there but the computer says No.

FTTP does Not come from the cabinet.

FTTPonD costs many thousands of pounds.

What area are you ?.

It will say WBC FTTP 1000 for Featured products.

It could just be a database error. Before you contact the CEO, you could try the official Openreach contact page which is intended for this sort of situation:

Select option "I cannot get fibre but my neighbours can". Make sure you explain it's FTTP that you're talking about (since they refer to FTTC as "fibre" too)

Oadby, Leicester. I hope it's a database problem, I've sent one of those Openreach forms (https://www.formwize.openreach.co.uk/run/survey3.cfm?idx=505d040e0b080d) as I made this post but that'll take up to a month for a reply apparently.

If that comes back with nothing informative I may have to go more direct routes with the email you provided (thanks for providing).

I did use that checker, typed it a whole bunch of addressed near our house and it's seemingly random who has it. Everyone who has WBC FTTP 1000 will have We're slightly off the road but others on the road are missing it while other cul-de-sac houses have it.

That's the form I filled out with "Neighbours can get it but I can't". Even if it's a bad answer I just want some clarity about it.

I had a response from that email within days, give it a try, the chap even phoned me.

our FTTP comes from a Exchange 12 miles away (not our local one 3 miles away) it is connected to a Fibre OLT.
Your will do something similar Not from your local cab.

*For the majority of the FTTP rollout the cabinet has nothing to do with it. The fibre for FTTP doesn't necessarily even come from the same direction.

The fibre for your FTTP comes from an underground node.
The fibre for the local FTTC cabinet (usually) comes from the same node.

With FTTC the whole cabinet is enabled at the same time as the FTTC equipment is installed next to the cabinet.

With FTTP the cabinet is irreverent when it comes to who gets it rolled out to them.
It's very common for only some properties connected to a particular cabinet to get FTTP while the rest of the cabinet does not get FTTP (specific housing estates or specific streets for example).

*In rare, mainly rural deployments, OpenReach will install some FTTP kit next to the FTTC cabinet that helps extend the distance from the exchange that FTTP can be installed.
These are called Subtended Head-Ends.
They only install this kit next to the FTTC cabinet because it has a power supply and usually a couple spare fibres.
The cabinet still has nothing to do with who gets FTTP.

From your description in the 1st post it very much sounds like you are simply the victim of a database error and you should be able to order FTTP.
The draw string in place and neighbours next door having access to FTTP screams database issue.

I have the same issue. The surrounding roads are supplied with FTTP, mainly via OH, I would be supplied via ducting. however; it seems OR don't want to bother with the hassle. I've contacted OR twice now via the contact form and the last response I got was a copy paste saying they don't have plans to supply my address which I'm obviously not happy about as they don't give a reason why. Is a message to the CEO worthwhile?
