What bandwidths are you supposed to have?

Sounds very much like a (remote software) provisioning issue. They’ve put you on some odd profile.

[Probably worth highlighting to readers that this an AltNet FTTP service - Hey! Broadband - rather than Openreach provided]

approx 950 up and down. It's a new connection. When they installed it a couple of weeks ago they showed me 950 up and down so something has happened since then.

Possibly, just possibly, it could be related to changes they instigated when putting your GPON router recently into bridge mode.

I understand from your other thread they had several attempts at doing that…somehow or other they may have mistakenly or inadvertently changed the bandwidth profile of your service. Just a thought.

OK - so gave misleading information. The speeds were over ethernet (direct from built in GB LAN on old mac pro direct to my router (which is connected to their TP Link in bridge mode). HOWEVER, wirelessly over AX (my router is AX as is Iphone 12 speeds are 750/800 up and down. So nothing wrong with the fibre in to the house.

So my router is somehow throttling download (not upload) over LAN.

Which router is the WiFi coming from? Is Wifi turned off on the TP link .

If WiFi is from your router it sounds like your router is restricting the download on the ethernet port somehow.

So that isolates the issue to the Router ethernet port, the cable and the Laptop ethernet port.

You need to try
a) A different cable. (Easiest but unlikely)
b) A different PC / Laptop
c) Use the TP link ethernet to check Laptop port is 900Mb capable.

As I assume you have used the TP link before getting it set in Bridge mode the Ethernet port on your Router is the most likely restriction..
