Best Price for FTTP?

Hi All - We're currently in the process of purchasing a Freehold MDU building in the South East which has had Fibre Cabling installed to all of the leaseholder units (Openreach FTTP).

As this would be my first experience with FTTP as we will be needing to use it for our planned admin office within the building, what is the best price for a 100+ MPB connection?

Some providers offer 115/20 (down/up), but otherwise the first speed you get above 100M is 160/30. For an office, I would suggest you consider paying a little extra for a business provider to get a faster response time in case of faults.

*Cheapest* (residential) 160/30 is probably Sky or Talktalk, both around £35/month (inc VAT) although they might not sell it to you at a business address. For business providers some of the options include Aquiss, Cerberus, iDNET, Talktalk Business, Zen [in alphabetical order]. There is also BT of course. I use Cerberus myself: they do 160/30 for £44+VAT, or 115/20 for £40+VAT, 12 month contract.

Note: some of those providers either don't provide any voice service at all with FTTP, or sell it at extra cost, if that makes any difference to you.

Last time I looked, Sky, Aquiss and AAISP didn't do speeds higher than 160/30 - but were rumoured to be considering launching higher speed packages. I'd say for an admin office, 160/30 should be plenty. In fact 80/20 would most likely be more than enough.

On the retail / residential side of things looks like the Vodafone Superfast 100 (if indeed Whitehall11 can get it at the new location, as we know from another fateful thread Vodafone FTTP is not available in all Openreach served locations) is £25 inc for 115/20 service.

Though i did have a surprising email from our estate agent today...

'The building has fibre and you would have to use BT for your internet provider' - I know for a fact it's just a bog standard ONT and BBU, so i assume standard any supplier who OR works with can be used?

That's correct, with the proviso that some ISPs with their own backhaul networks don't have cablelink capacity at all exchanges, so they may not serve the whole OR FTTP footprint. Just use the ISP's availability checker to be sure.

TalkTalk 500Mbps £35 a month 24 month contract.

Correct, I think the cheapest we get FTTP for is around £41 + VAT for 160/30, I'd need to check who that is with.

Or BT Business, currently offering 900/100 with BT Halo (so EE backup if fibre fails) for £58.95+VAT. including phone line.
BT Residential is £58.99

For not much of a premium you can get a lot of extra unnecessary speed.

That reminds me there’s a TalkTalk Business sale on their Business Full Fibre (FTTP) products until 12 July - 3 months free on a 2 year term.

So effective prices per month (ex VAT) are:
900/115 £52.46
500/75 £43.71
300/50 £34.96
200/30 £30.58
100/20 £26.21
