I was sorry to read of APTMAN's poor install experience, and feel fortunate to have had a very different time of it!
Incredibly, FTTP has arrived to our house in rural mid Wales. A CBT first appeared on the pole in our garden about 2 years ago, and the line went live last week. I placed an order the same morning, and we're now up and running with Full Fibre 100 from Zen.
Before the installation I had been reading on this forum about preparation for the engineer's visit - thanks to all who posted on the subject. As a result our install went very smoothly.
The CBT is on a pole in our garden, about 10m from the house. I wanted to avoid visible cabling as much as possible, so installed ducting and a draw cord running through our loft - from the gable wall at one end to the ceiling of an internal cupboard the other, in the hope that the engineer would be happy to use it. I had backup routes in mind if not.
I was very happy when an Openreach engineer arrived rather than Quinn - who seem to have a less than stellar reputation. He was happy to use the ducting I'd installed and he result is a very neat install indeed. The service was up and running straight away, speed tests showing a download of 106Mbps.
It's been a while coming, but the result is even better than I hoped for!
