CityFibre - Worcester City

[link to this post]

Hi All,
Recently I've been made aware that CityFibre are installing FTTP to Worcester City my home town. My street had a new small green cab installed directly across from my house the other day, and it looks like they were cutting new ducting pipes down to size. Our street doesn't have overheard poles so they must be using existing ducting to each property. They have since left now and I don't know if they laid any new fibre down as I was mainly at work when this occurred. Currently I am connected via FTTC.

Does anyone have any further details on CityFibre's installation plan/rollout in Worcester?

I have signed up to their website to get notifications but just wondering if anyone from the City has gone live yet, and what timeframe after having a new small cab installed in the street it may go live.

Done a fair bit of googling but can only find limited press releases.

I'm in Worcester myself (North side) and I've been keeping an eye on this.

They've been working south of the hospital for a few months, and north of the hospital more recently.

Not seen any other areas with works yet. I'd imagine they'll be working their way around the city over the couple of years.

Not sure how long after they do the main dig work they can start commissioning the actual network.. but presumably not too long after as they'd want to be earning money back on things as soon as they can..

Happy enough to wait for now but looking forward to it becoming available, as there seems to be effectively zero penetration of Openreach FTTC in the city.. which is disappointing.

I've seen CF contractors around Glasgow for the best part of a year and they've only just started talking orders via ISPs.
