Diverting by *21* to avoid loss of calls during porting?

[link to this post]

I recently posted this as a reply in "List of residential VOIP providers, but not receiving a reply, maybe best on its own?

If planning to port a BT number to, say A&A, would using *21* to set up a divert for incoming calls to the BT number to a mobile number ie *21*07mobile number# before commencing the porting process bridge the gap between the BT number being closed and the ported VoIP number coming into service?

Do you think that this would mess up the porting process?

The current BT tariff that I have, includes diverted calls to mobiles as part of the inclusive calls.

Cheers!

Cant see how it will affect the port process, but at some point during the port your hard call divert will stop working. I suppose you could ring yourself at intervals to check

Just my personal opinions

I don't think it would make any difference unless Openreach pull the exchange jumpers prior to the port.

No as once the port has occurred incoming calls would be hitting the A&A system that wouldn't know about the divert, although I wouldn't add an additional layer of complexity just in case.
