FTTP cable, bad install or just being fussy?

I'm in a new build property and I've just for the first time actually stopped and noticed how terrible the FTTP installation is. I'll let the photo do the speaking, but what do you guys think? Is this a terrible installation or am I just being fussy?

How do you stop rats chewing electrical wires?
Wires can be sealed in protective materials such as concrete or plastic. Also, you may protect electrical wires by placing covers around them. There are even electrical cords made from protective materials that are durable enough not to sustain damage if rodents attempt to chew on them.

The OR install looks fine - but why is a third party cable/fibre going into/behind the BT termination point?

…or an alnet fibre connection. The cable looks a bit anaemic for RG6

New build developer / builder poss trying to eliminate another through wall peno and use the same cavity for all telecoms services. Either for aesthetics or laziness. OP will have to confirm what’s on the other side…

The exposed cable is Virgin Media’s I’m 99% sure.
Complain to them

Surely the work is being audited by VM or the Alt Net companies. As the cable is coming through the green ducting this is either VM or an Alt net. Why pass it through the OR capping easier to cleat around and make neat.. Happens too often as a lot are Self emp and paid per job so this is common.. Dont get me wrong seen work on the OR network similar too but that is poor.

As others have said that looks like it is part of the CATV install not Openreach FTTP. Virgin Media probably as I think they are the only ones who use green duct.

Looking I suspect the black cable is the cable for CATV from inside your house that should be joined to the VM cable in a box like the Openreach one is. It is probably just tucked into the duct. Do any of your neighbours have a VM box next to the Openreach one?

I've often seen new builds where the builder puts in the internal cables and the ducts/ropes ready for Openreach and VM to pull their external cables through and sort out the connection. In your case it looks like VM have not done their external install so you have the internal cable tucked into the duct and a rope ready for them to pull through their cable if you order service or they get round to pre-cabling it.
