FTTP Installation and VOIP Handset

Hi,

FTTP ordered - I will be getting a BT handset (BT Cloud Voice W60P) but I am planning to use a third party for VOIP and not Digital Voice.

My question is can I use the handset with say a Gigaset 300 Base Unit or would I be better buying the Gigaset handset as well and just throwing the BT one away ?

Also which ONT am I likely to have and does anyone have the dimensions ?

A BT Dect handset should be able to make and receive calls with a Gigaset N300. What may well not work is advance functions such as transferring directory entries to another handaet. I use the Gigaset C430s as inexpensive handset.

N300's will allow you to register third-party DECT handsets (although I've just used Gigaste handset) you just wont get all the Gigset specific features on the handset, but basic call functionality should be fine. See ops manual.

I have yet to find a way to register te W60 with a Gigaset base. You cannot add other VoIP to teh W60 yourself so not much you can do.

Don't "throw it away" though as your contract will state it is on loan and charged for if not returned.


Just buy an N300A IP base unit with inculded handset or two.
