FTTP Hatherleigh, Devon

[link to this post]

Hi all

Noticed engineers outside my house where I live pulling fibre lines through and installing equipment in the underground chambers. I ask if this was full fibre he said yes, however I can't see any information on Openreach website that mentions FTTP for my area, and the checker brings back nothing either.

One new development does have FTTP the rest is FTTC, anyone have anymore info?

Thanks

It depends entirely when you live.

Openreach where and when page gives a broad-brush as to which exchange areas they're planning to, but they can and do deploy FTTP outside these areas.

Relatively new developments, where the ducting is modern and in good shape, are a frequent target for upgrades as these are "low hanging fruit". If this happens, count yourself lucky.

However, I'm afraid it is also not unknown for OR engineers to be pulling fibres for a business leased line, and to tell people (wrongly) that it's for FTTP.

Basically, you just have to wait and see what happens. Keep an eye on the BT Wholesale broadband checker which will show you when the service is live (it will say "WBC FTTP" instead of "FTTP on Demand")

Hi all thanks for the replies.

Yes the estate I live in was built around 2008 so relatively new all with underground ducting. I had been searching the for my exchange in one of the lists but its not listed anywhere.

The BT wholesale check only reports FTpod not FTTP at the moment, however the Openreach has the following info:

"We're starting to build our ultra-fast, ultra-reliable Full Fibre broadband in your area"

I signed up for more info and got this email:

"Great news. Your area is in our plans for Ultrafast Full Fibre broadband, with speeds of up to 1Gbps†. (That’s 1,000Mbps!) "

So yes it looks like I maybe on the lucky ones getting FTTP hopefully soon.

My address has been out, then in, then out and now back to in on OR page. Nothing is set in concrete until you actually get it.
