I have been told by ISP that my G.fast, FTTC is coming from Wellington telephone exchange (not Cuckoo Oak) as for my local telephone exchange Cuckoo Oak is only provided for ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ only. I thought G.fast are from Cuckoo Oak not Wellington?

Any PSTN and ADSL over the copper would go to the local copper based exchange (Cuckoo Oak in your case).
On the other hand FTTC fibre feed to the local cabinet (and FTTP) come from the GEA Headend (handover) exchange via the nearest aggregation node. This would include G.Fast as it is another GEA service

Should note this doesn't mean Cuckoo Oak will receive FTTP at the same time as Wellington.

Both Wellington and Cuckoo Oak doesn't have FTTP anyway

Lawley not run from Wellington? Fair bit of FTTP there.

All the FTTC cabs and residential FTTP in Telford run back to Wellington. It's the main ATE in Telford and second biggest exchange in Shropshire to Town Walls in Shrewsbury.
My FTTP in Lawley runs back to Wellington.
There is FTTP popping up all over the town on new build estates now.

I moved from that area to Lawley 3 years ago.
I was on FTTC for 2 years and then they infilled FTTP 10 months ago. Half of the road had FTTP, half did not.

I been asked the landlord if they could transfer my house to Lawley but they say no. I have to stay where I am. Still on G.fast 330/50.
|
|
|
I can't get Virgin here but would not bother with it if I could although parts of Lawley are now Virgin FTTP - no coax.
Bonus of FTTP is the reliability of it and lower latency compared to FTTC.
I will be looking to increase the speed of it when my contract is up for renewal.

Yeah good luck with your speed increase. At the moment I am half way left in my contract with G.fast 330/50 until next May will downgraded back to FTTC 40/10 as I ain't bother with fastest speed. No point. Because browser website, check email, watch netflix is no benefit for fastest speed as I believe netflix are fine with FTTC 40/10.
G.fast are very expensive 330/50 at £57 a month but lucky me as my daughter and I agree to pay half for 12 months.
I am thinking downgraded with BT Home Essentials 40/10 for £15 a month next May.

I know Telford is not a city but CityFibre's head office is in Telford.
It's about time they started fibering closer to home.

That office is from the acquisition of Entanet. CityFibre still build in areas where they have metro networks. Telford isn't one of them for now, potentially still too expensive.

If you know where to look you can get power levels and error stats. They are worthless, though.

Believe it when I see it Adslmax.
They have been going on for years about extending their footprint in Telford.
All they have done is a few streets in Hadley and Hortonwood.
