Unable to order fibre

[link to this post]

I've been in my new build since completion in 2016 in Salford and initially had fibre with Sky and Vodafone but as they speed was rubbish around 25Mbps I have been on 5G for the past 2 years. I decided to query packages and costs again with a fixed line provider and on any provider they are only showing copper broadband as an option now which is significantly slower, I've check other addresses on my street and adjacent and it's the same , any reason why this would be ?

The cabinet is probably full and so not currently taking new orders. Others on here can potentially give info about cabs and plans for upgrades if you post which exchange/cabinet you are on.

Checking a few addresses on that cabinet shows no FTTC product at all, likely to be a BT Wholesale database error. Not sure how you can fix that.frown

@jpm It doesn't look like a full cabinet, that would show FTTC service speeds and a waiting list.

Just a suggestion, can you put your postcode into BT Broadband Checker take a screenshot, remove your address but leave the rest of the info?

If you can't and you don't mind me knowing the info, I can do it for you, then PM me.

I know that area (I live in Eccles) and I have been looking at lots of Manchester exchanges as I am looking to buy a house up here.

CJT.

Currently on Hyperoptic 100Mbps ...

Previously on NOW TV Broadband up to 38 Mbps, then BT Broadband up to 80Mbps, then Pluse8 Broadband up to 80 Mbps

The fact that FTTP on Demand is available implies it's an FTTC area. Also codelook confirms that cabinet 38 has had FTTC since 2012 - with 439 properties served by it and no expansion recorded. Therefore most likely the cabinet is full, but as has already been observed, there appears to be a problem with BTW backend systems because they *should* show FTTC with wait list.

You'll need to talk to your prospective ISP and explain the situation to them, and see if they can raise a case with BTW or Openreach on your behalf. This may be easiest if you go to Sky or Vodafone who have a record of you being a customer previously at the same address.

Yeah, I'm 99% sure that it's a database error. I remember that our address even disappeared off it at one point, just before FTTP went live! Luckily, Openreach sorted it just in time! Phew! tongue
