I've been in my new build since completion in 2016 in Salford and initially had fibre with Sky and Vodafone but as they speed was rubbish around 25Mbps I have been on 5G for the past 2 years. I decided to query packages and costs again with a fixed line provider and on any provider they are only showing copper broadband as an option now which is significantly slower, I've check other addresses on my street and adjacent and it's the same , any reason why this would be ?

The cabinet is probably full and so not currently taking new orders. Others on here can potentially give info about cabs and plans for upgrades if you post which exchange/cabinet you are on.

My exchange is MRBLA cab 38

Looks like a full cabinet

Checking a few addresses on that cabinet shows no FTTC product at all, likely to be a BT Wholesale database error. Not sure how you can fix that.
@jpm It doesn't look like a full cabinet, that would show FTTC service speeds and a waiting list.

Just a suggestion, can you put your postcode into BT Broadband Checker take a screenshot, remove your address but leave the rest of the info?
If you can't and you don't mind me knowing the info, I can do it for you, then PM me.
I know that area (I live in Eccles) and I have been looking at lots of Manchester exchanges as I am looking to buy a house up here.

The fact that FTTP on Demand is available implies it's an FTTC area. Also codelook confirms that cabinet 38 has had FTTC since 2012 - with 439 properties served by it and no expansion recorded. Therefore most likely the cabinet is full, but as has already been observed, there appears to be a problem with BTW backend systems because they *should* show FTTC with wait list.
You'll need to talk to your prospective ISP and explain the situation to them, and see if they can raise a case with BTW or Openreach on your behalf. This may be easiest if you go to Sky or Vodafone who have a record of you being a customer previously at the same address.

Thanks everyone

Yeah, I'm 99% sure that it's a database error. I remember that our address even disappeared off it at one point, just before FTTP went live! Luckily, Openreach sorted it just in time! Phew!

It would be amazing if FTTP was going live , I doubt it though haha

I did wonder, and as others have confirmed you should be able to get some form of Fibre.
Out of interest does Hyperoptic serve the building?

No, it's a housing estate of 96 houses built by countryside back in 2016

After looking around it looks like the speeds in your area from the FTTC cab have dropped with the amount of crosstalk. This has led to your area being removed from the OR checker for FTTC, likely ADSL speeds are actually better !.
You must have been a long way from the Cab to only get 25Mb back in 2016.
Not knowing your postcode I couldn't identify further detail.
The OR Checker suggests that they are working on planning FTTP around the area. I suggest you input your postcode and see what the result is and start to check this monthly. You can even fill in the contact form to register your interest in FTTP.

Cabinet P38 is somewhere in postcode M7 1PA, according to Codelook. Trying addresses in this postcode (Meadow Road) I get only "Your address has been successfully matched; however we cannot determine ADSL availability at this address."
So I tried a property in a directly adjacent postcode (M7 1RF, 1 Clover Drive) and got a result with no FTTC availability shown.
Whilst it's possible the copper takes an extremely circuitous route, to get down to even 25M it would have to be over 1km.
Looking from outside, it seems database breakage is more likely explanation than crosstalk.

Thanks for confirming, it's why I eventually ended up getting 5G as the FTTC was rubbish
We're a new build surrounded by a river and local authority which is served by VM, unfortunately the developer lied to us and said we'd be covered and VM said our estate wasn't financially viable. I did enquiry about FTToD but when the survey was done the cost doubled from £15k to £29k and interest wavered. As the exchange hasn't got it's ROI Openreach wanted to add that cost on..we kindly declined

Do a Community Fibre Partnership thing and see if that kicks anybody at Openreach - if it's a new build estate then it's all ducted and there's no reason to think it won't get FTTP in the next few years.

I did that, they hiked up the price to £29k from £15k between 96 houses, no chance, Getting £300 per houses was tough 2 years ago never mind now!

Wow different strokes for different folks eh! Some people would kill to get FTTP for a £300 outlay!

There's a vast gulf between the % of people who are unhappy with their broadband speeds, and the % of people who would pay more than a nominal amount to improve them.

I know I thought it was very cheap tbh , cheapo neighbours haha
We're moving this year so not a massive issue, though I will be annoyed if they plumb in FTTP and I leave!

Looks like it was an error, it's showing I can order again now. Unfortunately still only 30Mbps so I'll stick to my 5G for now
Thanks everyone

So, once again I can't order FTTC but now Openreach are claiming they're upgrading us to FTTP, which is fabulous
"Hello Damien
Thanks for your recent enquiry via the Openreach website about getting faster broadband.
I’ve looked into your enquiry and the great news is that we will have some fantastic connectivity options for your home. I can see the equipment you’re connected to is getting an upgrade. This will give you the option of ordering Fibre to the premises (FTTP).
Our engineering will take place over the coming month/s. If everything goes to plan, fibre broadband should be available to order after 2 Months from now."
I just hope this is true and they stick to the timetable, I'll be looking out for Openreach vans!!
