WP and MOD2 markings on pavement

[link to this post]

I've seen WP3, WP4, WP5, WP6 and MOD2 in spray paint on the pavements, some are on or near Openreach joint box covers, some aren't. What do they mean? The streets with the markings do not have FTTC or FTTP as the cabinet has not been fibre enabled.

Thanks

WPs are work points noted on the plan. Mod2 is probably a new small footway jointbox to be built.

Would this mean that FTTP is going to be installed?

Thanks

Not possible to tell. It means there is a plan to do something and the work points on the plan have been marked on the street.

As its extremely unlikely to be related to a copper infrastructure rearrangement my bet is on full fibre going in but you will have to wait and see.

As noted above, probably indeed FTTP infra going in. You may be able to get some further insights from one.network or the local county council traffic works/permissions online map.

I found the weekly roadworks report for my council, it has this for the street:
"Openreach Contractors laying approximately 230mts of duct, Install duct tees and boxes."

to me it sounds likely that this is part of work to install FTTP, how long until FTTP is available I've no idea.

If its FTTPoD(on demand) it may only be for a few properties where one or more have paid thousands to fund the install

I's say its unlikely the ducts are for copper, given the long term plan, the tees also suggest its not just a duct passing through for a leased line
