Swish and GigaClear FTTP Gt Missenden Business Pricing

[link to this post]

Swish and GigaClear domestic prices are competitive but the business price plans are extortionate by a factor of 10.
900 Mbps balanced connection is £500/month
Competitors in other areas balanced 1G connections from £40 - £130/cm
Can anyone explain the reasoning to me please?

With low contention symmetric business plans, they’re effectively competing (in a proxy sense) with leased lines.

In more rural / less urban / dark fibre dense areas the cost for constructing leased lines and the ongoing rental is proportionality higher than in denser more urban settings. So they can probably justify the higher charge.

"In other areas" is what matters. They only compete with people in the same area.

Nationally, I think there are very few providers who will give you symmetric 1G for the prices you are talking about.

Even for domestic customers Gigaclear pricing probably varies according to where you want to have the connection. The price list web page says:

"These prices are applicable to new Gigaclear customers only. If you are an existing customer and would like to discuss your options please call our Customer Loyalty Team on 01865 591 131."

It would be quite interesting to know what others are paying for Gigaclear. Where I live the alternative is sub 2mbps ADSL so it is hard to haggle and get a lower price. Not that I have tried.
