Hi,
A couple of years ago I had VDSL from various ISPs including TalkTalk and Vodafone. I went to Virgin about 18 months ago and am looking around for a new VDSL deal but but only BT is offering it.
Vodafone won't offer anything and most of the other providers will only offer ADSL 12Mb.
I looked at the BT broadband website and they offer the full range, Fibre 1, Fibre 2, Fibre 100 and Fibre 250 but they are very expensive!
The BT wholesale says:
VDSL Range A (Clean) 80 79 20 19 75.7 Waiting list Waiting list
VDSL Range B (Impacted) 80 79 20 19 74 Waiting list Waiting list
G.fast Range A (Clean) 330 282.3 50 35.2 255.5 Green Green
G.fast Range B (Impacted) 323.5 254.3 46.9 24.3 235.7 Green Green
Any idea what's going on here?

There’s no VDSL ports available at the cabinet. BT will presumably put you on the waiting list for a port, but other ISP’s won’t.
You may be better taking a G.fast service.

A second vote for the g.Fast service.
It’s different equipment in the cab, so no waiting for VDSL ports to become free. It works well if you have a nice short line as you do.

Yes, "waiting list" means the VDSL cabinet is full: there are no spare ports, and this is why most providers won't offer you service.
However G.Fast has its own line cards (usually an extension to the PCP), which is why BT are happy to sell you G.Fast. There are a few other providers who will sell this, including Talktalk, who call it "Ultrafast Fibre Broadband" if I remember correctly.
If you actually order VDSL from BT, I suspect the order would fail.

Thanks for the quick clarification everyone!
So if I don't want to pay for GFast it's ADSL or stay with Virgin.
That's annoying.
I might try a VDSL order with BT and see what happens....

Talktalk's Fibre 150 Ultrafast at £30 per month isn't too bad, not much more than BT's VDSL, and you'll likely get the solid headline speeds given your predictions.
It's unclear if it includes a voice service (no reason not to; just it doesn't say that it does).

I would say there's no point.
At best you will get put on the waiting list and there's no telling how long it will take for a port to become free.
Thanks

They do provide a voice service since its over copper.
It states this in the small print somewhere.

First thanks for the info and advice everyone!
In the end I decided to stick with Virgin M100 as I managed (eventually) to negotiate what I considered a reasonable price for the next 18 months. £23 a month for M100 with phone and talk weekends.
