FIBRE ME LIMITED - Local roadworks

[link to this post]

Several roadworks have appeared on one.network recently around the county (Rutland) being carried out by FIBRE ME LIMITED. Personally I've never heard of them and they don't even appear to have a website. My town is on the Openreach FTTP rollout by December 2026.

Has anyone heard of them before? Would they be involved in FTTP or could this just be something unrelated and I'm getting my hopes up for nothing?

Just searching the Internet as had the exact same question as seen them pop on roadworks.

Still no website for FibreMe however doing a search on PeeringDb for FibreMe shows they are now known as Upp with their website at www.upp.com and AS is 211307.

Unfortunately for the simple request of a static IP address means opting for their business packages, which are quite a bit more expensive. Can not see mention of IPv6 supported.

Seems they use Openreach infrastructure and ducting.

You're right about Fibre Me now being called Upp Broadband. I've seen work going on around town since the spring. They've installed their own equipment on the telegraph pole outside my house which involved digging up the paths so I'm not sure what if any infrastructure they share with openreach though.

Yeah but I was expecting them to also use the same underground ducts to feed each pole but they have been digging up roads/paths to lay their own cables instead

From what i understand, OR open up the ducts and chambers on a first come first served basis. Any altnets that lose out must dig and use their own chambers but can use the duct.

Any blockages the alt nets finds, can clear and bill OR for, as OR should have maintained the ducts themselves.
