I'm in an FTTC only village with no signs of FTTP coming anytime soon but from my office window I can see the Cabinet and this morning there were some gentlemen pulling out 2 of these large black cylinders which I thought were aggregation nodes but now I'm not sure.
Can anyone advise what they are ?

Lots of Openreach underground kit has a black plastic waterproof enclosure.
It could be as simple as a waterproof joint enclosure for the copper pairs.
Without taking detailed pics you will likely never know.

It's fibre equipment at least. That's probably the best answer you are going to get.
It could be an Aggregation Node, a Splitter Node or a simple track joint enclosure.
They all pretty much look the same

Thanks, might as well do a full survey for FTTPoD then if I'm super close to something, might get the new FTTPoD "something close by" fixed pricing lol
Thanks

If it's a simple track joint then you wouldn't be eligible for the near network trial. If it's pretty much anything else then you would be.
The way I like to think of it is if you can't afford to gamble £250+vat on an FTTPoD survey then you probably can't afford FTTPoD.

Great. I’ll ask them what it is but I agree, £250+vat is deffo worth a punt
Thanks

Could be a simple EAD install. If you have a postcode I'll see if there's a T node.

Both are fibre track nodes (joints) by the looks of it

You don't fancy a leased line then?

You don't fancy a leased line then?
Is that what I'm looking at options wise ?

Where's that from? A public source?

Won’t be (openly) public. It will be via an wholesale reseller/service provider ordering portal that shows local fibre infrastructure, fibre routes and T-nodes, (not GEA) for leased line and private circuit provision.
