I've had g.fast for about a year now and I had a problem summer last year in which the speed dropped and resulted in an engineer visit. The engineer was really confused as the line length seemed fine but he did note that he kept getting errors on the line. He tried connecting at various junction boxes in the pavement along the path to the pod but got poor speeds even at those. Eventually he found an issue with apparently a old style connector in the junction box adjacent to the pod. This seemed to fix the issue until now.
Now my g.fast is currently operating at ~50mbps down and 30mbps up. The openreach modem is locked so I can't see line stats but the BT wholesale checker is showing a reported max speed of 80mbps despite the handback threshold being 160mbps with a low of 187mbps
Also seems odd that the upstream is perfectly fine and hasn't been impacted at all.
Anyone any ideas what would cause such a massive decrease in line speed? I've contacted my ISP and hoping they'll book another engineer visit but I was wondering if anyone had any advise to make sure I don't get fobbed off by openreach.
Thanks, Tom
