When I am likely to see activity

[link to this post]

We're scheduled to have FTTP installed as part of R100 .
"Based on the current engineering schedule your address is in scope to receive its superfast connection by the end of June 2022."
We've been surveyed by both Morrison Utilities and Openreach last year. The last 1.7 mile of phone line is currently direct buried (technically some is just hung on a wall), so they seem to be proposing new duct being mole ploughed in and some poles to get around an awkward area.
So if work is scheduled to be completed by the end of June, when I am I likely to see any activity?

Piece of string…how long etc etc. wink

Keep an eye on your local authority roadworks permits website, one.network or Better Internet Dashboard for any sign of actual planned works.

My direct dig from pole to house curtilage will be 400M, I was also surveyed by Morrisons and then as they were dragging their feet and also not doing a proper survey then by OR. I keep an eye on

https://bidb.uk/

and

https://www.roadworksscotland.org/

and can see activity getting closer week by week, but expect my direct dig to be the last bit, ie not being done until the fibre is down the public road and the CBT's in place on the poles. Hope I am wrong but with all the missed deadlines my expectations are low. 4G is working well so its only a matter of a lower ping for me and a less complicated setup.

Your direct dig is only likely to be done when you place an order once the CBT is live.

No, OR surveyor confirmed the direct dig is part of R100 and will be dug regardless or order or not, he saw the 4G antenna and I also confirmed the copper line was unused hence why I asked. What will be left until an order is placed is the final 20M overhead cable from the new pole on the curtilage to the house. The Morrisons surveyor confirmed for all R100 properties he was covering he was responsible for planning to property curtilage.

I am on R100 as well and Openreach told Scot Gov/R100 by the end of March. I can see roadworks have been planned but they have been planned for the last 2 months and the dates keep moving so I doubt it will be done by the end of March sadly.
I suspect a lot if not all on our street are DIG based as well so even when we can order it could be a while to get it installed.

At least there is signs of possible activity for you. Will just have to keep a look out, and to be honest I don't have a much confidence of it happening on time, everything else from Scotland Superfast has been wrong.

We initially had a Dec 21 date when I spotted it on the R100 last year (between easter and summer) and there was a quirk where the whole street was getting improved besides my address so I contacted R100 and they said because my speed was slightly faster it was not part of the contract at the time even though my speed was actually less.

A bunch of openreach guys turned up in August I think it was and they walked down/up the street a few times and I managed to have a quick chat to confirm FTTP was coming and I asked if my specific address in the street would be excluded and they said they cant see why I wouldnt be able to get it given I am in the middle of the street and they would have to run to houses literally on both sides and opposite my house.

In Sep the date seemed to shift to end of March 22. Some openreach guys showed up in Nov, again surveying and the guys said they hoped to start the process in December weather permitting. Weather was [censored] so nothing was done until January when a contractor showed up and seemed to be rodding and roping throughout the town and eventually on our street. It all went quiet again and then in Feb I saw road works for openreach on our street for the 2nd half of Feb and the main trunk street leading to use had a note about ducting work which I read to mean they had a blockage.

The dates given to roadworks scotland came and went with no work and then new dates appeared and they have come and gone and now more dates have appeared again leading till mid April as the window so we will see if they show up.
To be fair we have had terrible weather but it does feel like this will be an eternity as once its ready to order it will be some job getting the fibre into the houses.

I hope this give you an outline of timescales I have found but I am also in a really bad weather area. Depending on when you saw the dates added I would hope you would get some movement in April or at least some roadworks notices.
