cityfibre appear to have abandoned planned rollout my road

[link to this post]

Checked https://bidb.uk/ and it was unplanned.

Then checked their own website and it says.

Thanks for your interest, we haven’t planned your area at the moment.

I checked the nearest side street and its still planned.

Looks like they abandoning my street, maybe hit some snag, I did check 2-3 other properties on the road as well? As far as i can go to the end of the road and its the same for all of them. Also the other side of the park which was previously available has changed to unplanned.

Has this happened before, is it a known thing?

So back to living in a city and no planned FTTP rollout at my address.

For those who might remember when I thought this happened before, it is definite this time as you can see in the pasted message, and I can share my postcode in DM, and you can check the neighbouring streets, you will see every street around me is either available or planned, mine unplanned. If cityfibre give me a response, I will post it here. But the whole "they do full cities and dont back out", not so sure now.

Oh yes, a thousand times. Plans change continuously, snags are hit, extra costs mean removal from scope. Wayleave issues are also extremely common, especially with private roads and MDUs.

They have never claimed that, so I don't know where you got that text from. They aim to reach 85-90% of properties in the area that they are rolling out into.

Our area is just being done as part of CF's Gigabit cities, and we have a "City Manager" we can contact with questions etc - they've even got a public blog of how things are going (though it's not 100% up-to-date).

It appeared that CF weren't looking to complete our particular street and area immediately around it, so I contacted them and they said our street was in the plan.

Like you, the checker just said we can't get it and its not been planned. However the City Manager knew more than the checker smile

Might be worth trying to find out from CF who your City Manager is and drop them an email.

Regards,
Haydn

Yes, I'm seeing this a few streets away from me. A whole 'estate' (1980s/90s, adopted roads) was in plan for what looked like PIA with roadworks sites showing cabinet positions. That's all gone now for some reason. Other nearby PIA build still shows as do trenches for their own ducts.

How did you find yours? Where's the blog? I get blanked when I email and ask anything.

I think people read too much into this website and the one.network site, it doesn't mean nothing is planned by the infrastructure provider it just means no permits are currently being requested or granted for the streets in question at the present moment.

Yes, and also nothing showing for the next 12 months doesn't mean that nothing will be done in the next 12 months, it means that nobody has roadworks permitted that far ahead.

Actually I found our City Managers Blog by accident (by google searching "city fibre doncaster")

The blog is specific to our area >> https://www.fullfibreupdates.co.uk/ and I'm not exactly sure if its CF managed (it does say its a personal blog so maybe done outside of work hours).

Maybe I was just lucky?

Did a Google and it did come up with some interesting info (mainly via LinkedIn) Google Search for "City Fibre City Manager"

Me too! I've found my city manager - although they're actually the PR people, not actually managing the build. But he'll do. I'm going to guess the email as [email protected]. Unless anyone else knows better!

I'd say the email format was as good as a guess as any smile
