Potential capacity issue

[link to this post]

Hi, I'm moving into a new house hopefully in the next couple of months. In Cardiff. Annoyingly, the neighbours 5 doors down do have FTTH from OR, and the last 4 houses on the street including mine don't. It's an old street - no new builds - and is fed from OH cable.

I enquired with OR and they gave this answer:

I’ve looked into your enquiry and Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) is in your area but we’re currently experiencing higher than expected volumes and neighbours who are getting FTTP is connected with different infrastructure. We are sorry to inform that due to the engineering reason you will not be able to get Fibre to the property from the existing infrastructure as it may create potential capacity issue.

Can't really understand this. Luckily it's not the end of the world as there is VM and GFast (very close to cab), but can't really figure out what this means?

At a **guess** the CBT that feeds the new address is at capacity already (all ports already in use)

Doesn’t sound like the end of the world though. I have g.Fast on a sub 150m line and get a solid 330/50 sync, works well for us

Specifically, it sounds like their property wasn't covered by the planned build and to connect it to the existing FTTP build would be a problem.

I am aware of one half of a semi detached in Cardiff that can have FTTP and the other half cannot. First is in Whitchurch area off one pole, 2nd is in Llandaff area off a different pole. Been like that for over 5 years ( Whitchurch was a firbe first trial area). Give it a couple of months and Llandaff area will go live for FTTP.

They have to have boundaries somewhere. Exchange areas, splitters, CBTs, Poles all lead to edges of deployments. ,

This explanation is poorly written by someone who is probably non-technical and because of that it comes across as drivel.
