Exchange next door, only ADSL available..

[link to this post]

I have family moving into this building (red) and they can only get ADSL, yet the exchange (blue) and what looks to be cabinets are literally next door. What are the potential solutions. Digital Scotland say they will be rolling out in 2026 but that seems since a long period to wait.

Can you check another number in that block of houses , it might be a mistake on the system ?

Just because there’s a cabinet nearby doesn’t mean that a line goes through it.

If there’s a reasonable 4G signal, then the quickest fix will be buying a router which takes a SIM and and going that route.

Ask the new neighbours what they do for internet ?

Looks like an error. The OP should query the data with openreach or their provider.

According to the Codelook site there are some exchange only lines on the postcode for the premises which do not go via the cabinet. If the BT checker does not say " served by Cabinet 13" the premises will be on an EO line so no FTTC available.frown
Nearby streets have Full 80/20 FTTC I can not get any results for the premises postcode on the BT Address checker which is strange, other nearby postcodes work. As advised you need to check with ISP and neighbours .

Looks like it is the police houses which are EO so ADSL only, Must have been missed off the rearrangements to the Cab

Yeah, it doesn’t say which cabinet, so must be EO. The checker refuses to recognise that postcode for some reason, when it did before. Any idea the best way to approach Openreach, or is it just go with a proactive ISP ie AAISP etc.

Binary_digit

You can try the contact form from the OR site https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband if it is the police houses this recognises the postcode and acknowledges that only ADSL ia available. It may be possible for the premises to be rearranged to the Cab outside the exchange. but they are also rolling out FTTP in the town at present so you may be lucky !

It may also be a records error as Wicthunt posts, as he often has inside info..

Thanks will try that, They are not police houses but new apartments built next to the Police station that originally were for sale/completed in 2012.
