Project Gigabit - are we included?

[link to this post]

Project Gigabit has now included Norfolk in the procurement stage with contracts expected in Spring 2023 but are we included?

I understand that Project Gigabit is for properties that will not otherwise get full fibre but we are included in the Openreach "Full Fibre Broadband Programme Build" as "Build Delivery Phase 21/22 - December 2026". Does this mean that we cannot be a Project Gigabiy area?

I am hoping that Project Gigabit will get us full fibre sooner but as I cannot find a list of included exchanges / postcodes I remain totally confused.

You have answered your own question, you will get it very a commercial rollout not Project Gigabit.

Edit: Unless you are considered out of scope due to cost to deliver to your property, thats a question for your local BDUK team in Norfolk.

+1 as noted, your exchange area is in scope of the commercial FTTP rollout from Openreach. However there is no guarantee that every street and every premises will be connected. There are exceptions.

Um..........

We are a small village 3 miles from the exchange so I still don't know.

Thank you both for your information.

Your local exchange may Not play any part in FTTP, mine does not at 3 miles away , my Fibre Headend Exchange (the exchange that the fibre comes from ) is 12 miles away.!

That is true: however the Openreach published "where and when" maps are still based on local exchange areas.

Within each area, some proportion of properties will get full fibre as part of the main build, but not 100%. So it still needs more detailed local information for a particular property to know whether it's likely to be included in the initial build, or will require subsequent state aid to complete.

Having said that: if you *are* in a planned area, then I'd expect the discussions around state funding not to start until it's determined exactly how much has been built commercially. You would have to be very optimistic to think that outlying properties would get Project Gigabit funding now, so that they would be built *sooner* than the main commercial rollout!

I have had confirmation that we are part of Project Gigabit but obviously no guarantees until contracts are awarded.

I will be keeping an eye on Project Gigbit Norfolk progress!

Thanks you all again for the information.
