Could anyone tell me how I can find out where the Fibre Headend Exchange for my FTTP is please
|
|
|
I expect the forum will need at least a postcode for the address

If you already have FTTP the Wholesale checker may show the head end exchange rather than the local one, if certainly does for new builds. Otherwise see if there are any new builds near you and see where they are served from. It works best on smaller exchanges. On Big suburban ones different areas may be served from different head ends but this is fairly unusual.

Sorry Post Code is LL141YF
Checker just shows
Address on Exchange RHOSLLANERCHRUGOG is served by Cabinet 4

New Build, installed in May 2022

No idea if this postcode is close to the one you quote
random address with a postcode of LL20 8HG with OR FTTP availability
shows on Exchange LLANGOLLEN is served by Cabinet 6
So headend /OLT presumably is LLANGOLLEN
Why is it important to you ?

Difficult one to know, I cannot find any FTTP only which would tell us and Rhos-l is big enough to be a head end, but it is likely to be Wrexham itself.
If you do a speed test Andrew should spot it and get the maps up to date as he is missing your post code and surrounding ones off his map. ( Hopefully you are above an 80Mb package).

Wrexham looks like the obvious candidate.
I just checked the ‘new build/new subdivision’ wholesale checker lookup on an estate 5 miles away (but still same out-code) and that returned the same headend exchange I’m on.

Yes on 100Mbs
That is the max I can get
Next street on 1000Mbs but have had FTTP for quite a while
Openreach engineer told me he did not think it was in Rhos and probably Wrexham

The entire street is noted as 330/50.
Most of the houses look well established, 70s and 80s builds. When did Openreach rollout FTTP there?

LL142TS have had it quite a while
LL142TD had it just before me and is 1000Bms

Two thoughts:
1. The database has not updated your records to reflect 1000/220 capability for some reason. Either stuck or an error.
2. You are very unfortunate to be placed on an ECI-based PON which are are bandwidth constrained. This is an outside possibility if Wrexham had an original ECI headend with capacity and your serving CBTs were fed from that.
My hunch is that it’s (1) and you should have Openreach look into this further using the Availability Checker Enquiry customer form.

Oops forgot / didn’t put 2 and 2 together that we’d discussed this on your other thread here:

Did you get a reply from Openreach?

BT Chairman's office replied
Got EE to tell me max is 100mbs, give me 28 days to leave FOC.
Openreach escalated to next level, have not heard from them.
Went on Sky today, can get 100 or 900
Vodafone are offering everything up to 900
TalkTalk still 100
EE still 100
Thinking of changing to Vodafone but will lose my extra Mobile data

Cheers. I've replied in your other thread.
