Length of Inside/Outside Cable that Openreach will install?

[link to this post]

I have an Openreach FTTP installed scheduled in two weeks.
I would like to locate the Optical Network Terminal(ONT) 25 meters from the Custom Service Point(CSP).
In advance of the Openreach installer arriving I plan to install 25 meters of 20mm conduit from the CSP to the point where the ingress hole near the ONT will be drilled. I'll also run a draw string in the conduit to aid the installation.

My question is, do the Openreach installers arrive with a stock of long Inside/Outside Cables in their van that they could pull through that length of conduit? I see that Dexgreen do a 30m Inside/Outside cable and from what I have seen on this forum I believe Openreach use the Dexgreen product.
https://dexgreen.com/collections/fibre-optic-cabling...

I would buy a 30m Dexgreen cable myself and run it in in advance but the Dexgreen website doesn't look like they do direct sales.

Very standard for the Openreach installers to be carrying a variety of kits, upto and including the 30m length you mention.

Don’t forget that the install will require a metre or mores slack at the CSP end .

Hi Zarjaz

Thanks for your response.
That's reassuring info.
Fingers crossed that the installer arrives with a fully stocked van.

Have you booked (and paid for) an FTTP Premium Installation via your ISP?
https://www.openreach.co.uk/cpportal/products/fibre-...

For a standard install, only 10m is allowed between the CSP and ONT. Premium permits 10 to 30m.

EDIT: FTTP Premium install costs an extra £40+VAT at wholesale. Your ISP could charge you more or less than this.

Of course, you might be lucky and the engineer on the day will do a 30m cable as part of a "standard" install. Equally, some people have reported paying extra for the premium install, but the engineer turned up without this recorded on the job sheet and without the necessary cable.

There is also an ongoing trial of a new "advanced" installation option which allows up to 100m. https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2022/04/openre...
That's much more expensive (£150+VAT), and you don't need it. But just be aware of it, in case your ISP tries to sell it to you.
