Is TalkTalk FTTP any good?

[link to this post]

So we're soon to move to a property in an area served by Openreach FTTP and will be ordering a gigabit package from whichever ISP we feel is best suited.

The TalkTalk gigabit package looks good, it's the cheapest on the market (bar Vodafone but they aren't going anywhere near our money), and comes with 2x Amazon Eero 6 Mesh routers / Router & Repeater which is by far the best kit offered by any ISP.

But is TalkTalk any good these days? Had them back in the day when they traffic managed P2P traffic - is that still a thing? Or are they a more solid bet for FTTP products than they used to be back along with ADSL products?

They're fine as long as you don't have any problems. As soon as you have a problem they're a complete nightmare (going from personal experience).

I'd agree with these sentiments. I have a 150/30 FTTP circuit with TalkTalk Business as a backup. It is perfectly serviceable and downtime has been minimal.

However, there were billing errors (a paper bill fee being added, despite this never being requested - apparently a common occurrence) which took more phonecalls than expected to resolve.

The online user portal is clunky.

I had to contact their technical team to request the PPPoE credentials, it required a good few minutes of holding rather than the information being readily available.

The price is competitive though and the actual service works at 150/30.

I've had TT 500 FTTP for the last 12 months.

The service has been reliable but their Customer Services is appalling. Set up in September 2021 I had the first 3 months free but then had huge problems getting them to invoice me and set up my account.

After threatening them with legal action and leaving TT they eventually woke up and set up my account.

After negotiating with TT I basically got 12 months free BB due to their incompetence.

Agreed. Am in the same bucket with TTB.

Summary: actual service itself, totally fine, performant, excellent backhaul (hello Zen!). Downside is the billing system and getting simple admin stuff sorted -> Painful.

TT are having some problems at the moment which they need to sort out, otherwise they may not be around much longer.

I've been with them years and not had problems even with house move. Daughter has moved seven or eight times in twelve years and had no problem, son three house moves in four years and again no problem, so from personal experience TT have done a good job.

Always had a solid connection with them from ADSL to FTTC and now FTTP. The eero Pro 6 is an excellent router, far better than the FTTC Sagem (and that was pretty good).

All I can say is TT has worked very well for me, family and friends.
