FTTP in South Ayrshire

[link to this post]

Hi folks,

I moved to Craigie, South Ayrshire (KA1 5LY) in 2017. At the time, there was a superfast Scotland programme, which was supposed to get FTTP to the property by "March 2018". Fast forward to 2022 and we've seen delay after delay.

Now we have the Scottish Government R100 programme. The ScotlandSuperfast website did have us down for March 2022; but this now appears to be "the second half of 2022". The Roadworks Commissioner website and the Better Internet Dashboard did report some R100 roadworks on our street in the first half of the year; and we do see some Openreach "graffiti" on the pavement; but we haven't seen much movement other than that.

Is there any hope that we will get fibre? Stuck with ADSL just now, but it's not really fit for purpose.

Slightly annoying, as I could have got a voucher towards Starlink before March.

East Ayrshire here, near Skares and was told yesterday I should have a connection within 2 weeks and its an R100 FTTP connection. Like you I followed the BIBD and Scottish Roads website and by scrolling out you get a feel for where the teams are working. From first signs of activity at Cumnock it took maybe 5 months but I had 2 previous visits over the previous 18 months as there were wayleaves to sort out as I am down a track. I had the same putting back of dates on SuperSlow Scotland and its currently 2nd half 2022. If you have no current local activity then 2023 would be more realistic, I have been using 4G for 4 years now as the ADSL is useless.

BIBD shows this close to you.

Openreach
19/10/2022, 00:00:00 - 24/10/2022, 23:59:00
Status: Granted

But there are no clues as to what it relates to.

KA6 around Coylton has had full fibre go live in the past month, even in the more isolated clusters of buildings. There is a long waiting list for installs but I am now on FTTP 150/30 through Giganet.

Fibre was strung along the overhead poles in parallel to the copper service about a year and a half ago ago. Around nine months ago they started connecting the sections where poles met underground or branched off main roads. About six months ago OR did ducting at the local level then disappeared. A check of the database revealed I now have two entries on my property. One is the original copper service and another with a slightly different address format is for the fibre.
