Switching on CityFibre

Interested to know if this is a known thing or crossed wires somewhere, but I'm currently on Fibrehop on CityFibre's network, and provisioned an order with Vodafone to switch over when the current contract expires - Vodafone immediately cancelled the order and said switching on CityFibre is not possible, you need to cancel/cease your existing connection before placing an order otherwise they can't provision. This seems utterly insane to me, for a wholesale provider, and even worse for me as I often work from home so can't really tolerate much downtime.

I tried Googling around and looked on the CityFibre website to confirm one way or another to no avail, does anyone know?

Correct as far as I know. It certainly used to be that way.

There is an OFCOM-mandated cross-network "one touch" switching process due to go live sometime next year, so maybe Cityfibre will fix within-network switching at the same time. But right now, it looks like few networks are going to be ready for it anyway:
