FTTC Waiting List

[link to this post]

Just noticed looking for alternative packages for someone I know that all the results returned were 'nothing available', or ADSL. Checked the Openreach database, and it shows 'Waiting List' for FTTC at their postcode.

They are already with FTTC via Plusnet. Presumably they can't migrate at present and are stuck with PN (unless they drop down to ADSL ?)

How will 'stop sell' for copper products fit in with this ? OR are unlikely to expand the FTTC cabinet, so is it a case of waiting for FTTP to appear ?

Stop sell on copper products only effects properties with FTTP available and only on FTTP Priority exchanges.

FTTP becoming available takes capacity pressure off the FTTC cabinets which will likely see any waiting list disappear.

Is FTTC being at full capacity likely to accelerate FTTP roll out in that post code area ?

Unlikely to make any difference.

No, and depending on what any existing FTTP rollout plans are, plus the effort to add additional FTTC capacity (varies from just another card though pulling more tie pairs to an additional cabinet) they may just not bother.

There's an ISP rep who posts on here (maybe Uno?) who said that they see full cabinets stay full - if capacity opens up it's because people cease when they move to another network or move house, Openreach aren't expanding FTTC capacity now.

I'm in the same position, I'm out of contract with BT and waiting for FTTP, meanwhile my cabinet has filled up so I can't move anywhere.
