Openreach build to ability to order

[link to this post]

Hi All,

Can anyone suggest what the lead time is between Openreach building out the physical infrastructure and so fibre cables pulled in and visibly available on poles, and being able to order it via say BT or any other local ISP?

Openreach engineers seemingly have completed their work during Nov 2022 in my area, however when I check FTTP availability I just get a Not yet available message on the Openreach site.

Any suggestions or experience with this anyone? Thanks

This is an extremely frequently asked question on this forum but the answer is, it differs on every deployment/build, sometimes years, months or weeks. A deployment/build consists of some things you can see and some you can't, hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

Best advice I can give is keep checking.

could be a week or two, could be a few months. I think up here it happened in a couple of weeks. i suppose it depends on if they have any problems.

CBT appeared on pole in May.
Hit the availability checker once a week.
September, got an email from Openreach saying it was available to order. Ordered immediately.

Similar to myself then, I think the average is a few months, quite a lot of cases are a lot longer, though.

Mine was incredibly fast but I imagine possibly not the 'norm'. This was back in 2020

They finished cabling on the Thursday, then I was messaged by an amazing user on here Friday to tell me to check on the Saturday as I would be 'pleasantly surprised'. Low and behold it was available to order.

Mine did have the local council request it was expedited and I have no idea if the user from here did anything to help but I was extremely grateful.

It just shows it can be any length of time.
